3D Modeling Part 2

I am also starting to create several of the assets around my main prop (Truck). I've started modelling the tires in order to see how many polys I will use in creating the other props within the scene so that I can limit myself to how many poly I will use on the truck although I am giving myself a maximum of 2000tris for the other props in the environment which means I have a maximum of 8000tris for the truck.
Below is the start of my tire which is very low poly as within my reference images I am going to use at least 10-15 tires although when in the unreal engine I may be able to remove some of the back facing polys which will not be seen in order to reduce polys.

3D Modeling Part 2

Found another refence image in which I can see the front of the vechile. to create the bonet I used a sphere and halfed it and took of the bottom half. then extruded the back edges and raised it a bit looking at how the bonet of the truck is. I then created a flat face and position it to roughly where the end of the headlights is and then created a cyclinder to get the shape of the arch.

3D Modeling Part 2

Now beggining a new model to create a scene for a game, which alone can create a story. I am going to use my refrence from the model that I previously created. For the new main model I am going to create an old Chevvy truck, and add dents. I have found several refrence images which I can use as I cannot track down any blutprints which are similar to my focused refrence image.

3D Modeling

Finished touching up and texturing the Gun, wanted to make the colour style on the gun a tad different so I went with a metallic silver colour and added a slight tint of orange and green to show erosion as well as multiple scratches. Overall think the texturing has gone quite well.

Final Renders of turret.

3D Modeling

Turret so far. Just need to touch up current textures and finish of gun texture. Also thinking of adding some barrels around it and a sandy plain to give it a bit more of an enviroment.

3D Modeling

Am now begging to texture my turret, after looking at the refrence image and applying the same style texture to my model which I created in photoshop it didnt really give the realistic effect that I was after. I then decided to do a totally different style texture and make it look more used and rusted as the refrence image itself looked post apocalypit. I used a vast amount of tools in photoshop to give a dirty and rusty effect but mainly focused on using the "selective Color" tool in order to give my texture different tones and more of a realistic look. I think over all the texturing so far is going quite well but I feel that I need to work on making the top and bottom of the turret look more as a whole instead of seperate looking textures.

3D Modelling

Current scene is starting to pull together and am now beggining to UV the objects of the turret. Created the top half of the turret by using a cylinder and then extruding it and sclaing it to reflect the refrence image.
Also used the same technique for the actual gun on the turrent started with a cyclinder then added features by extruding and cutting in more edges.

With my UV texturing I am using the cylindrical unwrapping for the top half of the turret and then using the planar mapping for the top and bottom of the turret. So far I'm quite happy with it although it's a basic model hopefully I can add some depth to it. I also think that it reflects my refrence image quite well although I have added a few features and slightly differetn shape to improve on the reference.

3D Modelling

Still generating ideas for my first assignment in creating an asset, as the first part is only 10% I think that I will create a fairly straight forward model given the timescale needed to do it, this way I can spend more time on the textures. I have stumbled across multiple images that I am interested in and would now like to create a post apocalyptic scene.

I particularly like this image of the statue of liberty and think that this would make a great model given it a different environment and making it a lot more broken up and overgrown with plants etc as though nature has taken over and there is no sign of human life.

Another image I really liked as it was a car put together as though the world has been taken over and I thought this would make a great model.

Again another great image of a deserted rusted vehicle which would make a great model for post apocalyptic scene.

After doing lots of research and scanning Google for reference images I found this one to be the closest of what I wanted to do. Within this image I can take multiple assets and recreate them for our assignment. For the first 10% I would like to recreate the turret via the gate and for the following 90% create the vehicle but recreate it more rusted with deflated tyres and it leaning to one side due to the tyre deflation.

I think recreating this image would be a challenge, but will have a great outcome and look forward to starting on it.

3D Modeling

A few concept images of what im thinking of making:
Particulary like the chainsaw!

3D Modeling

Received our first assignment for our 3D modeling module looks quite interesting. I need to design a prop for a scene, had a few ideas to create an old style motorbike or a large 2 handed weapon. based on these props I could have a vast amount of scenes such as a garage, medieval armory amongst other locations. but I think i still need to generate some more ideas on what to create taking in account the 10.000 triangle budget and the time scale we have, roughly a month.
